I’m not pleased with this at all, I haven’t had chance to do my make up in a while what with so much going on at uni and I was really in the mood yesterday but kind of lost the drive halfway through. I’m posting this to remind myself that I do need a lot of practice and I’m nowhere near where I want/ need to be!

For my final major project at university I will hopefully be creating costumes, props and prosthetics for nymphadora tonks and alastor moody designing them to be true to the book characters rather than the film interpretations. So for a bit of fun, I spent my few days break creating my book cover! I know it’s not true to the book but the film interpretation of the monster book of monsters is so iconic I couldn’t help myself! I’ve still got to add the finishing touches; the title, some wear and tear and a belt to keep it from attacking anyone!!

I made a wee carriage to go with my rococo costume, this would have been the outside of the time machine that my character was working on, the colours match the embroidery on the trousers of the costume to link the designs together.

I’m still not honestly convinced I did a good job on this but it’s as good as it’s going to get!

So I made a rococo outfit, it’s made for a man but it fits me take that however you will.

The idea behind it is that the character is an inventor and is creating a time machine, he’s been working on it none stop for weeks and so he has discarded his waistcoat and jacket and it getting covered in all sorts of oil and grease. I know, I get a little carried away on character development. In any case, the dog liked it and that’s all I care about!

My Lady Stoneheart ( A song of Ice and Fire) attempt. I haven’t had a chance to use my wax and latex in so long as I’ve been focusing on my uni work, I feel like I’ve taken a huge step backwards as I had to redo this look three times before it worked well enough for me to be happy with it. I have included a photograph without the flash on to show the difference lighting makes.

This was going to be my makeup for Halloween this year, I wanted to keep it simple as I’d be wearing it all night and it gave me a chance to wear my new blood necklace!

My favourite hairstyle that I did for my opera project in costume, the idea was to create shell shapes in the hair, though I’m not sure this comes across as well as I’d have liked I still like the overall look.

This design was a bit different and is my new favourite, give it a few days and i’ll hate it. It’s an owl design using colours of the sea for an overall surreal look, which created a lizard effect which I quite like.

Looks a bit like I just rubbed my face in mud but this took me over half an hour :\
Again, this is for a uni project in which I have to create looks for a demon, he is in love so I want to show a softer, loved up side. For some reason this is what I came up with.. don’t ask.
I will be making a mask to be worn over the top of this, that’s still to be made…

A make-up for a characters I’m designing prosthetics and a mask for at University. The character from the opera ” The Demon” he is a demon who falls in love with a woman called Tamara. I wanted him to look like a sad, cute animal whilst keeping with the eerie and frightening personality expected of a demon. This make-up design is a mixture of a slow loris, a chihuahua and a cat. My prosthetic appliances for this character will be up soon.

I can’t add any more photos to that last post. So here’s the mould I took of the ears I sculpted and a better look at the quick make up job.. there will be more blood and cuts on the next practice.

I tried to create my prosthetics for an upcoming halloween themed christmas party, i want to be a zomie elf. Unfortunately, the prosthetics did not sit right. I blame this on moulding them from a mannequin instead of myself. I thought i would upload these pictures as i took my too long to get my hair this way to not document it!

A drawing I did of my Dungeons and Dragons guild in a steampunk style, I’ve been a  little steampunk obsessed recently and after watching the Paralympics I found myself designing Tash with prosthetic limbs.. Please forgive the creased paper :)

So I tried a natural version of Sally from nightmare before christmas; again it looks terrible. I spent a long time trying to blend the latex into my skin tone but because it is white it was really difficult. I ended up giving up and making the wounded area dramatically bruised and sore looking which just ruined the look completely I think. However, I really liked how the fake blood looks really clotted where it has dried around the lid a bit so I put that into the wound and really liked the effect, I;m going to try and experiment with fake blood to see if I could create realistic clots myself.

I attempted to recreate a Sally from nightmare before christmas look, it didn’t go very well as you can see. I wanted to do this look in comparison with a natural look. I really don’t like how any of it turned out but I spent a long time making the moulds so I felt it was a waste not to share it. I made five moulds in total, two to wrap around the wrist and arm, one to go on the forearm, one round the neck and one over the eye. The moulds were too long and thin so each time I removed them from the moulds they wrapped around themselves and got tangled, so I ended up just using the two on my forearm and wrist.
